About Us

Cold Springs Angus is family owned and operated by Terry and Laura Riley.

The farm's name originated from the Cold Springs that flow on the farm. The outfit consists of 30 head of registered Angus cows and 15 head of commercial cows running on about 150-acre of land. Our hay is harvested on other various properties that we own. Cold Springs Angus is located near the border of Kentucky and Tennessee overlooking the Cumberland River town of Burkesville, KY.

The farmland was selected because of its rolling hills with abundant grass, beautiful views overlooking the Cumberland River Valleys, and the rich tillable soil. We bought the first 90 acres of land in 2000 and built the house in 2002-03. During the same time we had a 1.5 acre lake built for watering the cattle and recreation. After the house we built a barn, cattle working facilities, and fenced and fenced and fenced...and still fencing.... For several years we leased the adjoining farm for hay and purchased that 60 acres in October 2005 and fenced it for more pasture land.

I first got into the cattle business years ago by raising bottle calves with my dad . I finally built a nice 30-cow commercial herd and thought I would like to venture into the registered business. So I was fortunate to find a registered herd for sale in Campbellsville, Taylor County, KY. The herd has been improved by Hollis and Jimmy Brockman at Holly Hope Farm for the past 20 years and the dedication shows in the animals that they had. The herd consists of a variety of genetics from several well-known farms and ranches such as KMK Acres in Thompson Stations, TN; SummitCrest in Summitville, OH; Three Trees Ranch in Sharpsburg, GA; Elk Creek Angus in Columbia, KY; Anderson Circle in Harrodsburg, KY; Springfield Angus in Louisburg, NC; Rolling M Angus in Paris, OH; and Smithland Angus in Russell Springs, KY. With this variety to offer we can fulfill every demand from local producers and other seedstock buyers alike. We are preparing to AI breed all of our females this coming season with the top Angus genetics available.

We are enrolled in the Angus Herd Improvement Records (AHIR) program. We continue to collect performance data up to this day. We raise and develop breeding stock, striving to produce sound, functional cattle, and excelling in growth and carcass traits. While maintaining rigid maternal standards for longevity and fleshing ability. Because of this, we keep ourselves and our customers in a profitable position. Cold Springs cattle are expected to go home with their new owners and be profitable for many years to come.
